Biography – James Abbott McNeil Whistler
James Abbott McNeil Whistler was a painter, etcher and lithographer. He was born in Lowell Massachusetts, USA in 1934. Whistler studied in Paris in 1851, moved to London in 1859 and visited Venice from 1979-80. He settled in Paris in 1992 and set up his own Art School call the Academie Carmen.
He has a number of works in the Tate Gallery.
